 A message from Willow Cross

When I published my first novel, I couldn't find affordable services to help me transform my manuscript from the word doc into e-book and print.  There were many out there, but it seemed like most of them wanted an appendage or my first born child in exchange for their services.


I had no idea what I was doing, but I knew what I wanted to do.  With a small amount of money to invest and a colossal dream I couldn't walk away from, I was determined to make it happen.  Choosing to Indie Publish meant I had loads of research to do.  So, starting at the very bottom of the pile, I worked my way through mounds of information about everything from formatting to marketing and promotion.  

Time after time, I'd sit at the computer, trying not to pull every last hair from my head and wishing I had someone, anyone, to talk to about where to go next and what to do.  Since that time I've written and self-published fifteen books.  Through research, trial, and error, I've learned some key points that I believe will benefit a first (or even fifth) time Indie author.

I will never give up writing books and creating new and unusual worlds, but at this point in my life, nothing would please me more than to be able to offer the help I couldn't find when I first began this journey. Willow's Indie Book Services will offer an ever expanding list of service providers and advice from not just myself, but from other successful Indie authors as well as trusted industry professionals.  Each individual on this site comes with my personal stamp of approval.  Our mission will be to make your breakout novel experience as easy and stress-free as humanly possible without the added worry of being scammed and not getting what you paid for.

Cari Quinn How many is too many? Huge thanks to Under The Covers for having me here today! I’d love to share a little bit about the first book in my new Hot Shots series, TEST SHOT, from Loose Id. First, check out the cover! Mad love to the designer, Valerie Tibbs, who is an absolute genius and captured the book perfectly. The story is m/f/m and set in New York City, one of my absolute favorite places in the world. This series has been a true labor of love for me. Last summer I came up with the idea for an erotic talent agency and pitched it to a publisher who gave me ideas on how to strengthen the concept. I decided to shelve it for a while, but the characters and the setup wouldn’t leave me alone. Back then, Drew and Kirby, the hero and heroine of book two, MONEY SHOT, were the characters in book one but I wasn’t ready to write about them yet. So I decided to make their story the second book, which left me needing new characters for book one. Layla, Sawyer and Aidan’s story didn’t exactly evolve into the book I’d expected to write and I think I enjoyed the process even more because Sawyer, in particular, refused to do anything I’d had in mind for him. He’s one of my favorite characters I’ve ever written because he’s unflinching in his honesty—and his willingness to put himself on the line. All three characters risk a lot in this story and their world looks very different at the end of the book than it did in the beginning, that’s for sure! Layla Palmer is starting over in New York City with a new job at Hot Shots, an agency that specializes in hiring talent for jobs with an erotic bent. Happily engaged, she writes off the changes in her relationship with her fiancé, Aidan, as growing pains. Choices. We make numerous ones each day, right and wrong. As children, we learn through trial and error as we discover how to make our way through this world. Bumps, skinned knees, bruises and cuts are the trophies we carry while we grow. During the tumultuous teenage years, we have migrated from learning how to control our physical bodies to gaining understanding of controlling our inner thoughts, feelings and mental state.

This journey is made even more difficult by the settings teenagers sometimes find themselves in. The wrong crowd, the wrong voice listened to, the wrong decision made, can forever alter the trajectory of their lives. This book, through the clever use of a stroll inside a cemetery, highlights the circumstances of the demise of each name etched into a headstone. The bad choices they made in life will forever haunt them in death.

Death is something each of us will face no matter how vehemently we fight it. Young adults, more especially teenagers, seem to encapsulate themselves with the notion that they are invincible. These stories of those that made bad choices while still alive, and are now suffering the repercussions of their earthly actions, illuminates the reality that what you sow today, you reap tomorrow.

I recommend this book for all teenagers, parents and young adults. Quite the wake up call.
