PRLog (Press Release) - Aug 24, 2012 -
Debut novelist Sarah Martinez will celebrate the release of SEX AND DEATH IN THE AMERICAN NOVEL on September 8 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. The event will begin at 6:30pm with book signings.  Martinez will be reading from her debut novel, a work of literary erotica that explores unconventional relationships, loss, and the merits of erotic literature through the eyes of a tenacious female protagonist.

Martinez’s passion for promoting the interests and independence of women combined with her unique perspective on the merits of erotica have already landed her interviews and mentions on online radio. Her signature style will attract readers interested in a deeper understanding of the importance of an honest dialogue about sex, the power of fantasy, grief and human connection in all its forms.

Martinez explains that her novel can be enjoyed on more than one level: “Using quotes and references to classic erotic and literary icons, SEX AND DEATH IN THE AMERICAN NOVEL is on one level an unconventional romance and on another a discussion of the merits of erotic literature.  Sex becomes a metaphor for the pleasures of reading.”
More than a signing, Martinez’s book release will feature tango and tribal fusion belly dance.  Dance is a powerful theme in the novel and acts as the catalyst for many important plot developments.  Performers include:

Michelle Badion and Koa Hons dance with a connection not often found in new partners. Michelle has been teaching Argentine tango, salsa and swing for 20 years and especially loves to perform tango. Koa now teaches, performs and promotes all aspects of Argentine tango. Together they create a dynamic, beautiful and unique experience.

Tribal fusion performer Maureen is inspired both by the organic and the electronic, adding gothic stylings to the ancient art of belly dance. She has performed at the Steampunk Exhibition Ball, the Folklife Festival, Salon L'Orient in Portland, and various nightclubs around Seattle.

Sarah Martinez invites you to learn more about her book and literary influences on her website at www.mywildskies.com, or to contact her at sarah@mywildskies.com.
