RRWL- BLOG TALK RADIO - A Good Story Is A Good Story TUESDAY 12 NOON JAN 25 CST - 1PM EST -10 AM PST- Host Marsha Cook.
Erin Merryn will be talking about what parent’ s and teachers can do to help our children know what to do if they find themselves in a situation that they don’t understand and are afraid to tell anyone . Erin will be discussing ERIN'S LAW and her emotional battle dealing with the aftermath of sexual abuse at age 6 1/2 years old .
Erin is the author of STOLEN INNOCENCE AND LIVING FOR TODAY. Erin speaks about how children can survive their trauma and she provides the hope for the future. She will discuss her Memoir and how she survived the terrible events in her life as well as helping her sister who was also abused sexually by the same person. Her courage is incredible and her spirit is powerful. She is the voice for those that live in quiet fear of the journey they have yet to face.
She graduated in May 2009 with a Master’s degree in Social Work from Aurora University. A leading participant in Take Back the Night, her goal is to raise awareness of abuse in order to end the stigma and silence. Since 2004 she has been traveling across America giving inspirational and motivational speeches at national conferences, community events, Children’s Advocacy Centers, colleges, and high schools. She has appeared on Good Morning America and Montel Williams. Her stories have appeared in Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul, Daily Herald, and Teen Voices, among others. Erin spends her time between the suburbs of Chicago and Lake Geneva, Wisconsin. She will also be traveling to several states in the near future to speak to large groups. With Erin's constant persistence she can pave the way for new laws and a greater understanding of what needs to be done to open the lines of communication for children. Taking the fear away from the children who are silent can and will make a difference.
